These notes were never issued. They were part of a series of notes which was issued in 1940. However Italy declared war on Greece before they were issued and the Bank of Greece realised there was now a shortage of 1000 drachma notes. The 100 drachma notes were therefore overstamped to give them a value of 1000 drachmas. See P-0111 for the overstamped note. |
