Comments | Four series of these bonds are known.
Greece experienced high inflation throughout the German occupation during World War 2. Attempts to counteract this included paying farmers 75% of the value of any agricultural produce which was purchased by the state in promissory notes payable in four months, or in these interest bearing bonds. Illustrations of issued bonds indicate that they paid 4% interest and were redeemable after 12 months. No issuing authority is clearly specified on the notes. This note is probably a remainder. |
