This is part of the first series of banknotes printed for the Bank of Greece, which was established in 1928. Previously the BoG had issued notes printed for the National Bank of Greece with BoG overstamps. Three of the notes in this series were printed in France and two (500 drachma and 5000 drachma) by the American Bank Note Company. |
