Watermark same as bust in note image. Underprint letter R. Locally re-validated termporary issue of German Reichmark currency in Useldange (renamed Oseldingen under German Occupation) from 14/9/1944 until reissue of new Luxembourg Franc notes on 14/10/1944. Rubber stamp of Luxembourg Arms and "Administration Communale Useldange" dated postmark "Oseldingen 05.10.44". Validation of currency owned by town residents to exclude large amount of liberated Reichmark currency from illigitimate sources. After 14/10/1944, only validated currency to a maximum of RM 150 could be converted to new Luxembourg Francs at a fixed rate of 1 Mark = 10 Francs, at a par of 1:1 with the Belgian Franc. Similar notes are known for other municipalities such as Bettembourg, Luxembourg City & Esch-sur-Alzette. Useldange (note illustrated) not often seen. |
