Comments | 400th anniversary of founding of Bogota 1538-1938.
Signed by Eduardo Santos (Montejo) and another indistinct signature. Eduardo Santos was recently installed as President of Colombia (1938-1942). He did this on behalf of Caleb Vance Haynes, American US air force aviator and fellow freemason on behalf of the latter's official visit to Colombia on an official visit in August 1938. Silver commemorative medallion also gifted to C V Haynes. Front contains Spanish colonial coat of arms and commemorative dates 1538-1938, reverse is portrait of Ferdinand VII portrait. Occasionally offered and one example sold w/out case for $100 in Daniel Frank Sedwick Auction 17, lot 1428, on 29-30 April 2015. Official case issued by Ministry of Finance and Public Credit not recorded. |
