In 1926 the Greek government imposed a second forced loan. Banknotes with a value of 25 drachmas or over were cut into 2. The left hand ¾ then circulated at ¾ of its face value. The right hand ¼ was a compulsory 20 year loan paying 6% per annum. This particular note is the right hand ¼ of P68.Full sized banknotes to replace these cut notes began to be issued later in 1926. |
