After the withdrawal of the Germans, these treasury notes were issued in Patras on the authority of the representative of the Greek liberation government to alleviate the shortage of currency. The plates were destroyed after they were printed, so when more 500 million drachma notes were need they were reproduced photographically. There are 2 variations - with red serial numbers and with black serial numbers. |
